Founded over thirty years ago the Edirisa Museum, also known as The Home of Edirisa features a complete replica of a Bakiga homestead to promote the language and culture of the Bakiga, a people who have historically lived in south-western Uganda and north eastern Rwanda whose independent spirit survived through-out the centuries and was most recently expressed in the formation of "Social Revolution" of 1959.
Inside the Edirisa Museum are many representations of Bakiga life including weapons , cooking utensils and other hosuehold items. Well worth a visit!
The Edirisa Museum is centrally
located in Kabale (see map below) and can be found next to the
Little Ritz restaurant.
